As-Built Modelling

Until it is efficiently turned into an as-built model, the model is not feasible for operations and maintenance. An as built BIM must meet several criteria. For starters, it must be geometrically accurate to actual site construction, and it must also have relevant fundamental information about all building components, which can be improved later at the 6D Levels.

As-Built BIM Modelling

As-Built BIM Modelling

Until it is efficiently turned into an as-built model, the model is not feasible for operations and maintenance. An as-built model must meet several criteria. For starters, it must be geometrically accurate to actual site construction, and it must also have relevant fundamental information about all building components, which can be improved later at the 6D Levels.

A model that has not been field verified is not an as built model, according to NBS and the level of detail criteria. As a result, field verification and ensuring that items are relevant to actual site building is highly necessary for a model to upgrade from the LOD 400 stage to the LOD 500 stage.

FIELD VERIFICATION THROUGH MODELLING

  • Laser scanning is the most widely used technology for converting existing structures or under construction buildings into as-built models. It’s a useful strategy for keeping track of and bringing actual site conditions into compliance.
Laser scanning is used to scan existing structures, and the point cloud is then turned into as-built information rich models using BIM modelling. Regular laser scanning is performed at various stages of the project to ensure that the model is rectified with on-site progress in a stage-by-stage manner. It also aids in the recording of MEP components that are buried after construction and the completion of the necessary requirements.
